Jorge Vilda: “The locker room codes have been transgressed”

Jorge Vilda gave an exclusive interview on TVE to explain everything that happened this week in the concentration of the National Team in Madrid. Since she jumped on the scene andhe ‘riot’ organized by some of the internationals to question his position, the selector had not spoken. He did it just two hours before having to appear before the media.

“It is a strange week, the situation is strange, of disappointment for what is being experienced. The codes of sport and a locker room have been transgressed. Women’s football is being the focus of something that is not even football. On the other hand, I have all the strength and all the desire to continue. The president of the RFEF has conveyed the support of the Board of Directors to me”, he said.

On Friday, La Roja will play a qualifying match for the World Cup against Hungary. According to UEFA regulations, the coach is obliged to give the press conference together with a player, who in this case will be the three captains. Irene Paredes, Jenni Hermoso and Patri Guijarro will give public explanations for the first time after the incident with the coach.

With this previous intervention by Vilda on TVE, her explanation is already known. The man from Madrid affirmed that he is hurt by the situation he is experiencing, although he looks forward. “The players are eager to play tomorrow, that reassures me. Although the focus is not exclusively on sports. I want to work day by day, build a powerful team and fight against the great powers”, she concluded.
