Rammstein is known for having one of the most spectacular live shows that anyone could ever imagine. One of those in charge of this magic is Nikolai Sabotkawho works in the band’s pyrotechnics and revealed, in 2021, how much fuel the group uses in each of its concerts.

The band started out with no professional pyrotechnicians other than Till himself, who had very unorthodox methods of playing live with explosives. As its popularity began to rise rapidly, there were also some locals and fire departments that weren’t so happy. Much of my work over the years has been to turn this around while making the show look even more spectacular and continually raising the bar.”Nikolai Sabottka explained.

One of Sabottka’s main tasks is to measure the size of the venue in order to later design the pyrotechnics for the show. In addition, he has to work with authorities, including fire departments, to make sure the show is safe for everyone.

“You may not have a problem in one city, but need to go above and beyond and sign tons of additional paperwork and proofs in another. All this can happen in the same country and only two hours from where you offered your last concert.“, said.

Our current stadium layout uses approximately 1,000 liters of fuel.”
