Hotel reservations in September start with a level higher than 2019 in Spain, standing at 114.22% over pre-pandemic figures, according to SiteMinder’s World Hotel Index.

In addition, Spain is ahead of the global average (98.19%) and other neighboring countries such as the United Kingdom (104.18%), France (97.22%), Italy (91.63%), Morocco (86.08%) or Malta (81.62%), and only behind Portugal, which registers a volume of reserves of 125.73% over the level of 2019.

While national tourism is stronger in August, in September the international market grows again, which right now occupies more than half of the total reservations. Thus, 64.32% of travelers staying in Spanish hotels during this month will be foreigners.

Of all the reservations made in the last two weeks of August, 57.77% correspond to stays for the same month of September.

SiteMinder data indicates that the good performance of the sector is distributed evenly throughout the territory, although Barcelona stands out above all the Spanish and European capitals with a volume of reservations of 139.56% on the pre-covid data.

The rest of the cities in Spain also maintain a good pace, with Madrid at 112.5% ​​of bookings in 2019, Seville at 114.4%, Malaga at 109.07% and Valencia at 105.5%.
