Not forty minutes had passed and the prizes MTV VMA’s 2022 they were already making noise on Twitter and Instagram.
It all started when “Moon Person”, the award-winning silver astronaut, descended from the top of the stage and inside his helmet, a familiar face welcomed everyone:Johnny Depp!
The actor, who is recovering his career and on the way after the defamation trial against his former partner, Amber Heardrecorded a video of his face to be projected inside the “Moon Person” helmet.
“Hey, you know what? she needed this job“Johnny Depp joked at the beginning of the show, to the surprise of all those present and the viewers who follow the ceremony from home.
Jack Harlowwho won the first prize of the night with Lil Nas X (Best Collaboration), dazzled with “First Class” to open the show, from inside the first class section of an airplane.
After “getting off” the plane, Jack Harlow was joined by a surprise guest, Fergie, for a duet of “Glamorous”. Then, Lizzo offered one of the most celebrated presentations of the night, with “About Damn Time” and “2 Be Loved”, where it was repeated hundreds of times on the screens of the place.
Subsequently, the little more than 10,000 people who gathered at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, received LL Cool J, one of the presenters of the ceremony, who was in charge of orchestrating the guests and directing the largest part of the party.
Artists such as Bad Bunny, Eminem, Snoop Dogg and Panic! at the Disco to delight the public with their new singles.
As for the nominations, Harry Styles and Doja Cat are tied for the most (eight each), followed by Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Lil Nas X with seven mentions each.
The night’s special awards will go to Nicki Minaj, who will receive the 2022 VMA Video Vanguard Award, while The Red Hot Chili Peppers will be named Global Icons.
