Xavi Simons scoring boom!

Xavi Simons has landed on his feet at PSV. He arrived with the skepticism that young promises always raise who have not succeeded in the big clubs (Barcelona and PSG, in this case), but A month has been enough for him to clear up any doubts: seven goals in seven games. At 19 years and 132 days old, he is the youngest player in league history to score six goals (the seventh was in the Super Cup against Ajax). This Wednesday he scored two of them against Volendam and, in addition, played a great game in Brian Plat’s own goal. He also brushed the hat-trick hitting the post after finishing off a volley corner.

It is said that the numbers speak for themselves, but Simons is much more than numbers. He is very fast and has an enviable technique, which allows him to move with ease in the most difficult areas of the field. That’s why, Van Nistelrooy already sees him as his favorite midfielder. His performance has managed to outshine Guus Til (15 goals last season for Feyenoord, from which he came), a Netherlands international expected to be the undisputed starter after being signed this summer. Luuk de Jong’s injury lasting several weeks and the arrival of El Ghazi could make him change his position somewhat, but it’s difficult to change his stripes.

Xavi Simons is already the sensation in the Netherlands, as has been predicted so much since he stood out in the lower categories of Barcelona and PSG. In the latter’s first team he made a big impression how little he played, but now is when he is exploding. The World Cup is just around the corner… and the coach is Van Gaal.

Gakpo is the star

Cody Gakpo is, without a doubt, the jewel of this PSV. In this same match against Volendam, with a final victory by 7-1, Gakpo scored three goals. The second of them in an individual play that is worth seeing and in which he shows his best virtues: dribbling, speed and goal. The virtues that are worth money.

For this reason, these days it has sounded for Everton and Leeds. However, his starting role in today’s game suggests that it is unlikely that he will be transferred, although on the last day of the market anything can happen.
